SB 263 (Property Tax Definition Amendment)

This bill makes clear that the property tax exemption for non-profits must utilize the IRS definition of what 501c3 non-profits can engage in for educational purposes pursuant to federal law.

Libertas supports this bill. The state has narrowly defined "educational purposes" and rejected at least one non-profit from the exemption because the Tax Commission believed that it did not meet the narrow criteria in state law.
