One idea that has been gaining steam in recent years to lower health care costs is the use of telemedicine. Fewer office visits, greater access to primary care physicians, and consultation availability outside of normal business hours are just a few of the benefits for telehealth services.

House Bill 392 introduced by Representative Ken Ivory, simply codifies what Medicaid often does already, in providing reimbursement for the use of telehealth services along with normal services.

As government funded healthcare adopts good policies for telemedicine, this encourages the private market to do the same, without the use of mandates.
