SB 204 (Parental Rights in Public Education Amendments) Libertas Institute supports this bill. Last year, the legislature overwhelmingly passed a bill that legally protects a parent's right to opt their child out of assessments conducted at the school. Following reports that the Utah State Office of Education has narrowly interpreted the law, forcing kids to take assessments their parents had opted them out of, this new bill has been introduced to make the parental protection even more explicit. |
