Government Shutdown Hypocrisy

The recent “shutdown”—more appropriately called a “slimdown”—has allowed the Obama administration to put pressure on the public as part of what’s called Washington Monument Syndrome. Rather than prioritizing government operations in a fair and rational manner, politicians close down much-loved things like parks and monuments so as to enrage the citizenry and induce pressure upon the opposition in Congress.

Whatever the cause and effect, the “slimdown” presents us with an opportunity to make a case for more local control.
